Downloading Hollow Knight from GOG reports failure and doesn't show play button but installs fine.
Whenever I try to install Hollow knight from GOG on Heroic, the games install progresses just fine but around 80% the game "fails" and doesn't show a play button inside of Heroic. But if I go to where Heroic installs games, it installed just fine and I can run it. This is more irritating than anything but I thought it would be worth reporting.

Ah; i misread.
Game is not installed in Heroic GUI
There is a verify/repair option in three dots menu of the game page.
Does it do anything?
