Doom 64 not working
Gets to the start menu but then no longer loads.
Get stuck on this screen.

Did you add game to Steam and run it from there?
If yes, try running from Heroic directly first.
Iirc this game was prompting some browser pop up to do some account linking

yes, the game should open your browser and ask you to allow epic account access
did you change your default system browser by any chance? if so change it back to the default chrome or try setting firefox
if none of that works, try installing ie8 in the game prefix using winetricks and the browser should pop up and you can get the url that you need to use in another browser

Is Chrome default on Deck?

When you say add to steam is it supposed to pop-up in the regular menu?

When you go to game page in Heroic and click Play in there; it should pop up that account linking stuff when game reaches the main menu
After doing that confirmation/linking thingy once you can launch game from Steam afterwards

Then try reverting it back to whatever default one was when you got the Deck and see if it pops up with it

That is a thing with some of their games. Not every game needs that.

Ok, last attempt. Go to
Games/Heroic/Prefixes directory and delete one says Doom64.
Then reboot the Deck, try launching game within Heroic again.

@Shark_in_a_Jar Now launch the game from Steam with using add to Steam option.
It should be working with correct orientation etc.
Add to Steam option is in Heroic game page

Old post, but I encountered the same issue
It was because it was trying to open a web browser
Running it in desktop mode allows it to open Firefox
