Pages Build Image v2 beta testers

Hey @Pages cloudflare , the Pages team is looking for beta testers for their new build system! (aka build image v2), they launched a build image update some weeks ago, but this new build system includes new versions by default and support for pnpm and Yarn 3, so if you'd like to test it, please drop your pages.dev url in the thread and feel free to leave your questions/feedback

Please consider using a dup project to test it

I’d love to test it out! wheniswan.pages.dev (small site for some messing around with. I might request more of my sites later) Very excited for pnpm!

Is there anything about this v2 image that would preclude using a GitHub Action with it? Or would you prefer that testers use the standard push-to-repo direct deployment method?
Walshy
Walshy3y ago
use it as you wish 🙂

Request v2 test status for static-site-dupe.pages.dev. (Will try here first with basic deploy, prior to GHA.) cc: @veerooo

note that we don't have Hugo just yet There's a PR open for it, I was gonna ping you once we had that in haha

No worries — I’m using an npm pkg (hugo-installer) that handles all that.

Will it respect a package.json's setting for engines > node, or should we set that in an env var?
Walshy
Walshy3y ago
not "engines" engines is a pain to parse
Bryce Wray
Bryce Wray3y ago
OK - so keep env var, right?
Walshy
Walshy3y ago
what do we do on >= 16 yeah keep the env

Errors out with a message about timezone setting in site config, which was fine on the old build image:
Error: invalid timeZone for language "en": unknown time zone America/Chicago
Error: invalid timeZone for language "en": unknown time zone America/Chicago
Deployment failed so no link to provide. Anything odd about this image’s settings re normal Linux/Unix stuff like that?
