Next 13 App Dir, performance benefits
Hello, are there really any performance benefits using server components and the app directory compared to regular SSG from Next 12? Is it worth migrating to the app dir?

If you are happy with your current performance and don’t see other benefits in the app directory then probably not
But yes there can be performance benefits
There are many other performance benefits but if you are just using the SSG feature then there isn't much performance benefits.
But the developer experience is much nicer with Next 13.
Also pages directory will be deprecated in Next 14 so either way you have to make the switch to the app directory.
do you have a source on pages dir deprecation?
pretty sure next team have said /pages will remain supported for several years
By deprecation i mean it won't get any new features, they are going all in on server components and with the pages dir won't get the any of these new features that are being developed the focus is now on the app dir, so it will still be available in Next 13 but i'm assuming it no longer be available on Next 14, sorry i should have been more clear on that.
youre assuming incorrectly
pages aint going nowhere
Well i hope so because i just discovered Nextra and i think it doesn't support app dir yet
