Legend of Heroes trails in the Sky FC not loading assets (Linux Mint 21.1)
The game doesn't seem to load it's assets correctly. I couldn't find anything on the web about it . See attached log and screenshots

Funnily enough, I was trying to start that myself; Launching it "normally" or through the unmarked config option wouldn't load the assets, just the text boxes, I found that launching it through the DirectX 8 config, it loads them right?

I think this is one instance where you should turn DXVK off, as I recall. The DirectX 8 version will work also because DXVK does not handle DirectX 8.

Yeah DX8 works fine, even the movies (in game not the opening logo) work. They're a bit choppy but otherwise it seams to work flawlessly like that. How do you turn the DXVK option off though?

In the game settings, under the "Wine" heading.

I thought that was going to be it, however, I just tried that and it didn't have any effect.

Yep that didn't do it, but heck if dx8 works just fine... I'll take it tbh. Now on to figuring out why Ys Seven doesn't run. If I can get all my favorite Falcom games to work in Linux that'd be grant

Yeah, I've got mostly the same idea there. Also wondering about carrying over the save data again later, but maybe we could just copy the save data from one game's Wine prefix into the next ones'?
But that is a separate, unrelated issue for future me.

Yeah same here, depends on how the file system is presented though since it does symlink the pseudo C folder to the normal structure iirc

Most Falcom games (prior to Ys Seven, anyway) need
amstream
and quartz
from Winetricks to play videos, but otherwise they should work fine.adverse-sapphireOP•3y ago
I see, well Ys seven crashes with a fatal error on launch, not much I can read out of that tbh
