The Witcher: Steam input not working
When i added witcher from heroic to steam as a shortcut from the game options, it added, but doesn't respect steam input settings.
I know it would work if i added the exe file directly, but it would be chaotic, because i would have to move saves, etc.

It probably doesnt respect steam input settings because when i launch it from steam, it runs as indicated from the button, but then it shows play button again, but actually the game runs, just steam doesnt know it. Is there a way to keep it running?

Does The Witcher even have controller support? On Steam, it doesn't have any controller support indicated

you can make your own controller layout via steam input, remap controller input as keyboard inputs
thats how you can use controller even with games older than witcher
I guess i will try using lutris instead of heroic

I’ve never had anything not respect Steam input from Heroic or Lutris. I suspect a configuration issue on your end, but you would need to provide logs #:pushpin: Read Me First | Frequently Asked Questions

i think its about how the way heroic handles launches from steam than compared to lutris or normal steam game
sure, when i make a shortcut from lutris to add to steam, steam references lutris in parameters
but in steam the game keeps running anyway

it starts then stops in steam
but game runs
but lutris keeps running as it should
thats why steam input works there
