workflow with images

I just start using the image service. I would like to understand how to work properly with images within the API.
How can image properties be modified?
Can I search by properties inside metadata?
Let say for example my database get desyncronised for any reason. I need to remove images that are not related with products anymore. I need to iterate over all the images in cloudflare, check if this image is is in the database and if not delete it. Can I achieve this?
