Heroic claims Disk is Full when installing to a hidden folder

I changed Heroic's default folder to ~/.heroic instead of ~/Games/Heroic, to bring it in line with Steam's pattern of ~/.steam. Doing this magically changes the remaining disk space that Heroic claims I have from over 500 gigabytes to exactly the amount the game requires, which isn't enough. I'd like to avoid clouding my directory structure with unnecessary and mismatched folders and would prefer to install with the pattern I've described. Is this possible?
