games only launch through launcher

Hello, I am using Heroic on my steam deck. I am not having issues installing and playing games through the launcher when I run the launcher from game mode on the steam deck and running the game through Heroic. But if I try to run the game via the shortcut directly from my steam menu the game will not launch. I'm sure I am missing something just not sure what. Any assistance is appreciated.
