Game with file larger than 4GB does not work on FAT32 (OP is stupid -OP)

I am trying to run the epic games version of Daemon X Machina on openSUSE Tumbleweed using the latest proton version. When trying to Download the game using The official Epic games Launcher on Windows, it kept jumping back to lower percentages of Download completion (maybe it failed a checksum so it jumped back to redownload). Using the Heroic Game Launcher, it does Download completely but only a window with the title The Game has crashed and will... opens. The text of that window says Fatal error: [File:Unknown] [Line: 3919] Trailing magic number (385175166d) in '../ ../ ../DXM/Content/Paks/DXM-WindowsNoEditor.pak' is different than the expected one. Verify your installation. I have already tried multiple rimes to redownload the game both on Epic and Heroic Game Launcher with the same result and even redownloading the launchers didnt help. The last thing I tried was manually deleting the issue causing file and then selecting the repair option inside heroic. That replaced the file but I still got the same error. I also tried other WINE versions Im using the flatpak version of Heroic. i also attached a screenshot of the error.

1. Don't use Proton, use Wine-GE 2. Do not ignore MESA-INTEL: warning: Haswell Vulkan support is incomplete. Your 10 year old CPU + iGPU is probably limiting you here

Thanks for answering. I already tried other WINE versions. Im currently using an old pc since my main one broke down randomly(probably broken PSU or Mainboard). The game had the same issue in a PC with an i5 4160, 20gb RAM and a gtx1650.

Until I see a log with Wine-GE, I don't think I can provide any more input other than telling you to reverify files as instructed
LogWindows: Error: Trailing magic number (385175166d) in '../../../DXM/Content/Paks/DXM-WindowsNoEditor.pak' is different than the expected one. Verify your installation.

When I verify the installation, it just completes the process without any issues. Heres the WINE-GE Log:

"game_directory": "/run/media/arjan/Fat32/Program files/Lin/DaemonxMachina",
Fat32? please tell me that's just what you named your drive rather than its file system type

I named my drive after its file system. Essentially, its a 250 GB partition on my main harddrive with Fat32 as its filesystem. I'm using Fat32 on it since I sometimes need to acess it from my windows dualboot

:Eyes_shaking: NTFS or BTRFS would be the better option. I won't be able to help further if you must maintain FAT32 Valve provides info on how to use NTFS including information on how to prevent drive read errors (tldr: don't put prefixes on there) https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/wiki/Using-a-NTFS-disk-with-Linux-and-Windows

the prefixes are in my home directory while the games themselves are on the Fat32 partition

FAT32 has a hard file size limit among other things, stop using FAT32 no one will reasonably provide support for it

sorry completely forgot to think about that... Gonna look into getting BTRfs on Windows. Feel incredibly stupid know. Thanks though Gonna reinstall the game in my home directory to check if I can play it now.

you probably want NTFS on windows, then you'll have no issue with the file size I mean, I think you can read btrfs partitions on windows, but I wouldn't install windows in something other than NFTS just in case
