Fallout new vegas via epic games not launching.
Tried playing fallout new vegas from my freshly installed Pop OS but game doesn't launch after clicking on "Play" option from the FNV launcher.
Tried launching the game directly from the executable from the game folder but still no result.

an alternative is to install the official Epic Games Launcher inside the game prefix (that will set that reg key too)

To clarify, to set the key you'll have to run Winetricks from the game settings, then launch
regedit using that. Running the commands in the Wiki will set the key in your default Wineprefix (~/.wine), which the game doesn't run in

@CommandMC I am a novice and know nothing about linux based OS so if it is possible, can you please tell me step by step on how to do that?
Head to the game settings in Heroic (Settings icon on the game card or on the game page), click the "Winetricks" button. In the menu that opens, simply press "OK" at the bottom, then in the next menu click "Run regedit" & press OK
Once you're in Regedit, follow what the guide tells you: Create a new Key in
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT & name it com.epicgames.launcher. One you've done that, close Regedit and close Winetricksmetropolitan-bronzeOP•2y ago

Hm, sounds like Heroic failed to download Winetricks (I've seen this happen a few times, but never found out why)
You can download the file yourself from https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Winetricks/winetricks/master/src/winetricks and place it into the folder Heroic expects, the button should then work. Might also have to make it executable (
chmod +x winetricks in the folder the file's in), not sure if Heroic will do that automaticallymetropolitan-bronzeOP•2y ago

the link works fine, looks like you can't connect to that domain for some reason, try using a VPN or maybe changing the DNS servers of your connection
we've had reports of users saying github is blocked by some internet providers for example (not sure why)
