GPU Upgrade Advice
Stuck on trying to find the best GPU as my upgrade from my GTX 1080. Goal is 1440p high refresh rate gaming (144-165Hz display), game dev work, relatively light video editing. Was thinking the 6700 XT would be a good option at like $300ish used right now. Any thougths or opinions?

What games?
What's the current cpu?
Current CPU is Ryzen 5 1600. Probably gonna upgrade to a 5800X(3D) for this upgrade
Games are a mix of Halo Infinite, Escape From Tarkov, CS:GO, occasional sim racing, and some older titles
I am currently on a 1080p monitor, but the goal is to move to 1440p HRF around 144-165Hz
The GPU space is the one I have not been paying attention to the most rn
Tarkov ain't running high frames at 1440p on a 6700
I don't expect tarkov to run miracles lol
Neither is halo infinite from a couple videos I quickly skimmed
Csgo runs on a toaster so probably fine there
I dont think I'd necessarily consider the 6700 a 1440p card. You might consider a 6800xt if possible
Hm. I will think about it. I'll check a couple more benchmarks

It's Russian I think, but fps is fps
And he has one with a 5600 and 6700xt. Fps looks to be about the same
I wonder if multiplayer fairs differently. Good knowledge to have though
In arena or big team battle?
I imagine the smaller arena maps are fine. Its big team battle you might struggle
Mostly arena
BTB makes sense that would perform not as well
6700xt or 6800xt is probably fine
Can buy my 3070 if you want
Trying to stay away from 8GB of VRAM, but I will keep it in mind lol
Define "High refresh gaming." Some people consider 120 high refresh gaming, and some these days require at least 240.
144-165, I see.
I have a 6800 XT and I am around 120-144+ in most games, for reference. 1440p.
Can obviously lower settings, since I'm on ultra in most.
But I'd advise you to get a 6800 XT for the 144-165 fps range.
Gotcha
6700 and 6800 series are your best bet. Nothing else comes close regarding price/performance
