Cloud save and Steam shortcut

I've been using cloud save through Heroic and so far it's been working really well to play between my Steam Deck and my desktop (with GOG Galaxy or Epic Launcher). For now, I'm launching games directly through Heroic each time, but I got a game that would benefit from different refresh rate and other settings so I wanted to use a profile on the QAM of the Deck. My question is this : if I use the "add to Steam" option on Heroic to create a Steam shortcut, will the cloud save still work or would I have to launch Heroic each time I'd like to sync ?
