Zombie sounds from layers that were formally alerts
I hope someone can help me with this ASAP. I opened Overlay Expert today with the intension of starting a stream, and the second the site opened I was hit with the loud buggy, glitchy sound of one of my sounds alerts playing on repeat at like x1000 it's normal speed. I hadn't done anything to cause the alert to wig out like this. It just started the moment I logged onto the site. It was like it had gone haywire! I tried to simply delete the buggy alert, but a message popped up saying that a sound alert could not be deleted if it was in use. So, I'm stuck not being able to delete it, but also not being able to do anything else with Overlay Expert until I do. When I signed off of Overlay Expert I saw the GRAPHQL ERROR (CODE: 401) message. PLEASE HELP!

can you take a screenshot of the error and post it here

I'm not sure if that error message has to do with the sound alert, but that's what popped up when I logged off of Overlay Expert.
try signing out and back into overlay expert again
I've tried it 3 times so far, and I restarted my computer a few times.
This wasn't happening yesterday.
okay, are you using chrome?
Yes
You're suggesting I try another browser?
okay click the dots in the top right then click more tools then developer tools
on the console tab do you see any red errors?
This is very frustrating, but my computer suddenly starting acting very unresponsive and slow today. I didn't consider it earlier, but I think it ay be my browser. I'm going to see if I can get Overlay Expert to work for me in another browser.
It's even moving slowly opening up developer tools.
I'll try another browser and check back with you.
@Marc theres very little to the error response so i think this is gonna have to be looked at by you
i use chrome aswell and i have no issues with it
I just used Firefox and logged into Overlay Expert. I'm having the same issue. It doesn't seem to be as loud, but it's the same problem.
yea i think it might be something on the server end as a 401 is an unauthorize error
have you streamed with overlay expert before?
Hey
I've used it several times and I've never had an issue like this before. I was just streaming last night this problem just came out of the blue.
401 just means you’re not signed in
Do you use the Twitch Extension or OBS?
Well I guess that's why it showed up when I logged off. So I guess that has nothing to do with my buggy sound alert.
I haven't been using OBS with Overlay Expert because I don't have Elgato or any other similar streaming hardware.
I’ve been making changes to the way sounds are played in the builder so there might be a bug, but the Twitch Extension should be OK
If I uninstalled the extension and reinstalled it would I lose my overlay?
No
And I wouldn't lose any of my saved alerts?
Also, there’s no reason to uninstall and reinstall the extension
It does nothing
your overlay is saved to overlay expert website not to the extension
This ☝️
Well I guess I'll just have to wait for the issue to pass on it's own then. I can't use the site right now.
So when you open your overlay, the sound plays on repeat?
… in the builder?
Yes. It's playing extremely fast on repeat. Like x1000 the normal speed.
With your overlay open in the builder, can you share the URL?
It will look like

@TrixHallowsSorry for the delay. I don't know what's going on, but a few hours ago my computer just started responding very slowly. I'm thinking it might be an issue with Chrome, but I don't know. I'm not computer savvy.
Here's the link. I opened the site in my Firefox browser. The buggy alert is acting differently in that browser. https://overlay.expert/builder/61d5cbfdd8d4f3861b04764b
Overlay Expert
Dynamic Content. Transitioning Panels. Expert Overlays.
In the Firefox browser you mostly hear the alert going off whenever you click on anything, or sometimes as you're moving the cursor around the screen. The sound keeps going in and out.
OK I’ll take a look and try to fix it tomorrow morning 🙏
Thanks @TrixHallows @SkullGamingHQ 💜
Just to be clear @TrixHallows you can still stream with this overlay. This bug only affects the builder.
Thanks Marc. So did you hear the issue I was talking about?
Oh great! Thanks for telling me that. There was no way I was going to stream with that happening. I didn't want to subject my viewers to that.
Yes I can reproduce the bug
I think I know what's causing it I should be able to fix it in the morning
That's great to hear. Thank you again 🤗 .
If you want to fix your overlay now, open the layer settings for the "Open Bar" layer, under Alerts, set it to Event-based, set the event to Twitch Follow, scroll down and remove the sound from the layer, and then change the layer back to Static.
Thank goodness! I did what you said and I was able to completely delete the sound. I hope that's the end of the problem.
This issue should be resolved. If it isn't, let us know.
