For thrifting what is the percentage off retail you aim for?
Trying to ballpark a good price for this (https://www.ebay.com/itm/304766881924). Retail $378. My gut says aim for 30-33% ($125) but I'm not sure if that is "lowballing".

Spier and Mackay suits on ebay probably go for around $50-100
There are suits from much higher end brands that you can get in the $100-150 range
Wow, maybe I just need to be more patient. Thank you.
do you have the PTO suit filter?
A lot of my purchases were between 5 and 10% of original retail price.
I'd have to check before saying 'all', so uh. Almost all.
Wow....
I use this for ebay:
I don't know i it can be improved, I found it on some site.
yeah that looks like the PTO filter
you can add J Press, Brooks Brothers, or any of the other ones that you want from the styleforum list

I suggest you go to Goodwill or salvation army, much cheaper than ebay
yeah bc it's largely not good
Goodwill is great for a lot of stuff but I can count on zero fingers the number of times I've found a decent, complete suit there
You'd have to be pretty persistent to get a specific suit set from one of the good brands in your size, and... I'd guess most people who buy these specific suits in full sets know there's a decent market on ebay and thus won't just give away their suit to goodwill?
So Goodwill I might find a dress shirt or two. But I visited three last weekend and they were all picked over and had maybe 4 suit sets total. Most weren't in great condition (let alone my size)
I think eBay I just need to watch for a while and get a sense of prices but I'm competing with resellers there too.
to thrift successfully, you need to go often and at different times and be OK with walking out empty handed. You will leave with nothing more times than not, but if you go often enough, you will find absolute gems
