Anyone have experience with them? I've been looking at a pair of their pennyloafers. An advantage (for me) of this brand is that I can try them on (at Independence in Chicago).
I have a pair of camp Mocs from them from probably 6-8 years ago, still going strong
I have two pairs of boots I've had for several years now. The quality is fantastic! One pair (the field boot in rough out leather) is the most comfortable boot I've ever owned. I think their loafers look amazing but I don't have much experience. Definitely try them on and keep in mind I've heard they can stretch out quite a bit with wear.
I recently bought a pair of their beefroll penny loafers and really enjoy them. A lot more comfortable out of the box than my suede Meermins.
Their handsewns have always been really nice quality and a welcome, if slightly expensive addition to the usual line-up with rancourt, Quoddy, yuketen, etc.
They seem to be entirely unable to figure out the proper tension for their welt stitching machine for all of their GYW footwear. Puckering at the welt has been an issue for them for as long as I can remember
Yeah I think oak street was the example I used for puckering in my “common footwear defects” album ages ago on gyw
