broken screw - f1-8x v2

Just got my board in today and tried unscrewing the board. Out of the box, the bottom middle screw was very tight. Pretty much had to use 100% force unscrewing it as it felt very stuck. I now see that the part of the screw broke off and is now stuck in the screw hole as shown in the pictures. Is there any way to get a replacement top piece or fix this?

You might as well contact customer support. Did you use screwdriver, I got it out easily using Allen key.

Used the hex bit on my screwdriver since I didnt have the right allen key for it

yah run through the same issue using screwdriver with correct hex bits. Felt like i was going to strip the head. Lucky had the allen key.

What is the difference between a hex bit and an allen key? This is the same, surely.

Yea I’m pretty sure it’s the same in this case

To be more precise I was referring to hex bits which you put in the screwdriver. While allen key is just hex bit shaped in L size tools.

What difference does this make to the non-sentient screw being loosened?

Hex bit for screwdriver doest give enough leverage/grip to open over tighten hex screw bit unlike an Allen key. You end up stripping the screw head. I am surprised you don't understand the premise

Stripping the screw head is surely a function of applied torque. Applying the same torque with a hex bit and an allen key will surely yield the same results. If the bit is too small, then you increase your chances of stripping, but that is obviously independent of whether you are using an allen key or a hex bit with a screwdriver. Where is my understanding lacking?

I suggest you read what I stated you still don't seem to understand.

What I can gather is that you are saying the allen key leverage helps you not strip the screw head, vs. a hex bit in a screw driver? No - that I do not understand at all.

How do you fix or remove the broken screw using an allen key? Did I miss anything?

Nope! Except perhaps that allen keys have some magical property that allows them to not strip screw heads, by leverage peepoEvilMan

You can buy a stripped screw remover.

Was curious to see if you would be able to use a small precision screw extractor. Did you manage to get it out?

Don’t have one and wasn’t able to get it out. Returning back to geon and receiving a replacement.
