Help with wedding shoes (and general suit feedback)

So I am getting married this September. Date is fast approaching. I went a little atypical with my outfit choice and got this light blue 3 piece suit. Was thinking of wearing it with some simple light brown (cognac) oxfords I already have. But then got thinking that perhaps I could go for a more decorative brown oxford (and maybe snag some lifelong shoes in the process), while my partner suggested I could do something like pure white sneakers. I guess I am looking for advice on shoes, the fit of the suit, accessories (like cufflinks) and anything else. I may not hang around too long to reply to any questions as I'm off to sleep shortly. Thank you very much in advance. Sorry about the messy tie/collar.

i am not an expert on suiting but I think a different tie is in order

can you elaborate? are you thinking the floral pattern is too loud?

You should get a shirt with a spread or semispread collar. I'm also not really a fan of this tie Post the cognac oxfords. Don't wear sneakers on your wedding day

Please don't wear sneakers. A solid tie would be a better choice. The brown oxfords would work.

Would you call this collar a point collar?

The suit is a really gorgeous color, you don’t need any sort of statement tie or anything

Yeah don't wear these

thank you for saying that. I have been just a little self conscious of going with an atypical suit color

Yes, looks like a point

Congrats on the wedding! Thoughts. No special order. 1. Suit needs to be tailored. It's got to be cleaner around the midsection. We also can't see sides nor back so no comments there. 2. Take photos with your shoes on, it makes a huge difference. 3. Cognac or darker brown or burgundy shoes are just fine. Absolutely no on white sneakers unless you're trying to look like white sneaker suit guy. 4. I do not like the tie at all. Two reasons. One, your suit is loud, I recommend a conservative tie for balance. Two, I just really don't like that tie at all. Not only do I dislike the colors clashing with the suit, I just wouldn't like it with anything. Personal taste. No offense. 5. Your shoes are not oxfords. I recommend oxfords. I also don't like your shoes. Again, no offense. I could suggest a number of options based on budget.

for shoes prob a sand/beige oxford or very very light walnut

Disagree in this case. I recommend OP wears a nice, safe, classic oxford, and can keep it and wear it forevermore. Sand/beige oxford is a difficult thing to wear. Brown, burgundy, black. Cap toe, medallion toe, shortwing brogue. Simple and easy.

🤔 i felt like the darker shade steer away from the suits and too much contrast?

Would lighter color oxfords match the intent of the suit? Sure. It might take some work to dial in which ones. But then OP will have spent $$$ on something he struggles to wear IME, even black is fine with almost any suit. Now, we can get into questions of intent; black oxfords are way mire formal than powder blue suits. But ... I think they'll look fine.

so op what is ur budget? would u prefer reusing the shoes or this is a one time thing ?

If it was me I might go for loafers instead tbh, but again, there's the question of whether they'll be worn thereafter.

yea, budget is important

Loafers would match the intent of a powder blue suit better. So would a less formal material, like shell, especially in #8.

and intent. i agree the loafer prob works really well with this color too

But if OP wants one nice balmoral to wear for the next 15 years it's probably gonna be a classic color I'll recommend.

I have money to spend. I'd actually like to get some brown oxfords that I can have forever more. So I am open to suggestions in any price range. Thanks for all the other comments, very helpful stuff, I have some work to do and things to think about

Unless you want recommendations for $1k shoes, post an actual budget in dollars

Hit me with the 1K shoes Maybe more important than price is I need to be able to procure them in a reasonable time. So I can't get custom made shoes most likely, I won't have time to wait

If you're set on oxfords, you can spend a fraction of the price on great oxfords from Allen Edmonds (especially used) or Meermin

So true. I kept posting outfits and MFA kept complaining about my shoes until one day I did something about it. 🙂

On a high but not infinite budget, my favorite so far is alden. Hampton last if it fits well. A balmoral from them on that last, that I would recommend, is basically any darker brownish color (which can go by a number of names), burgundy, or black. Calf is the obvious choice. Shell cordovan in number 8 or black is also lovely. I'm actually unsure if they do chromexcel in an oxford, and probably wouldn't recommend it for this use case. However, what I'd really recommend is a step down in price. Allen edmonds, meermin, grant stone. Carmina. Especially if you can get it on sale, as AE especially has a lot of those. You could get factory seconds, which tend to be pretty good, or you can buy second-hand online but I'd only do so if you have tried them on in store (for this use case, I'd be looking at new in box / new out of box / worn only a few times and look brand new, at like a $100 ish price point, rather than broken in for like $30. It's your wedding after all.) Similar to alden in price are companies like C&J, Church's, etc. Not all of what they make is, but some is. Tricker's is another popular UK (iirc) brand.

Meermin is having a sale right now. Might be able to find some deals there.

If you do buy meermin, wear them at least 5x before the wedding. Their leather is stiff and takes time to break in. It's good advice for any new shoe but really important for meermin.

I think the Allen Edmonds strand or Liverpool in walnut or dark chilli would look exceptional
