Weird plastic blobs showing up everywhere

I have been having these random blobs of plastic showing up all over the build plate and also the print which can cause the nozzle to crash into it. It doesn't appear to be dripping around the nozzle from improper tightness. What could be causing this?

I’ve had this happen when the infill is too sparse and it doesn’t lie flat and the nozzle will swipe across and knock blobs off. Try higher infill and spend some time watching the nozzle to see how the layers are going down/if bits get knocked off.
