Best Allen Edmonds loafers?
Whole bunch of AE loafers are on sale for end -of-season right now. Several styles look sort of similar to each other. I'm looking for a true loafer (not a sneaker) but something casual enough to wear with shorts, casual linen pants, chinos. or even jeans. Recommendations?

Half of full strap penny loafer is classic, and easier to be subtle with than horsebit or tassel. I'd get black, brown/etc, burgundy, or shell if they make it.
I prefer mine to be simple. Calf (if not shell), smooth rather than pebbled, no big bold stitching / contrast stitching like you see sometimes.
Similarly, as simple a sole as feasible. As thin as Goodyear welt usually is rather than chunky. Color matched rather than contrasting, though black under brown / burgundy isn't necessarily a deal breaker.
I wouldn't say my preferences are best. Just that they are my preferences.
I agree with gimp that penny is more subtle, and imo easier to pull off. I think horsebits look better in lazy luxe looks; I haven't figured out tassels yet. But here's some inspo for all 3
Edit: to answer your question tho, the cavanaugh is probably their most popular model
Yeah I somehow forgot to mention suede. Oops. Suede can be great. Snuff, tobacco...
the Cavanaugh loafer is pretty nice, LHS-esque silhouette. Dunno if any are on sale
