this looks kind of like you are missing dependencies and/or you installed them after you tried launching the game. see this post: https://discord.com/channels/812703221789097985/1044301598018515105/1044301598018515105 under Common issues/things to try (Linux-specific)
delete the prefix (listed in your log) and then try launching it again?

no, proton shouldn't be used on games outside of steam with only 3 exceptions i've heard of
