flagship stores in NYC to visit?

Here for two days and looking to visit any stores that I otherwise couldn’t outside of NYC. They might be online only, for example, with one flagship store. I’m planning to hit Meermin and Alden for example. The idea is to get sized in store to make online ordering and second hand shopping easier in the future. I already have a big thrift and vintage list so not necessarily interested in those. Thanks!

I'd add Carmina and Crockett and Jones to your list if you're looking a shoe sizing.

I also had a good experience getting sized at Carmina. I'd also recommend checking out Leffot. They've got a lot of top of the line brands, and no harm in just figuring out your fit

What's your style? Lots of smaller trending brands in NYC like Aime Leon Dore, Bode, 18 East, Nepenthes (EG, Needles, South 2 West 8)

Generally classic and modern menswear, not so really streetwear, but very open as I’m still only like a year into my style journey

The Armoury is wonderful! No appointment needed. I've always just walked in. Drake's is fun to look around in too. Sid Mashburn, all the RL flagships. I had a bit of a weird experience at leffot when I went in to check out the secondhand selection but I'm a woman so I have weird experiences on an infrequent basis in mens' sections/stores anyway. Bode is really interesting and it's really useful to see their stuff in person. There's a J Press near grand central, too, if you like that sort of thing! Have fun, I love window shopping outside my budget in the city haha. ( p.s. I'm guessing you already know about alfargo's but that's happening this weekend too!)

Great reccs ty! Definitely going to Alfargos, first time. Didn’t know about second hand selection at Leffot, I’ll look into that Here are a few post-trip thoughts: I really wanted Meermin to work out for me, but it just didn't. First, they were out of stock for so many things it made getting fitted difficult and frustrating. They didn't even have belts in stock, in addition to loafers, oxfords, derbies. I also found their fit to be very interesting. My brannock is 12.5D. They recommended that I purchase loafers in 11.5 for a perfect fit. I told them they were very uncomfortable - just shy of painful - and I was essentially told to "trust the process" and that their shoes "always lengthen." I was cautioned away from the 12D size event though it was more comfortable (I was warned it would likely start getting heel slip). I really felt like the entire experience was bizarre. I still may try Meermin out secondhand to see what the leather feels like once broken in. It's too bad - I honestly am very fond of their designs/lasts, and the price point is great. But after this experience, I may be pushed into the $300+ range to find what I'm looking for. Alfargo's Marketplace was super fun. I went Friday night and Saturday. Didn't end up getting anything but picked up a lot of inspo. Came very close to buying several things, but didn't feel super compelled to because of some imperfections or sizing issues (I know this comes with the territory as I thrift/eBay a lot, so I have my own tolerance level largely set). On the second day, I was shopping with a friend who's a newly minted professor, and trying to think about his style more seriously. We picked up a perfect PLR cashmere sweater for $40 and a vintage PLR Harrington Jacket for $40. Leffott was cool, but since there was literally no one else in the shop, the environment felt weird with the sales associate just staring at me the entire time. Some good inspo there for sure.
