Heroic 2.6.2 on Linux Mint: easy way to update? Also, "Game not available" error
There's a newer version than 2.6.2, right? What's the best way to update?
Also, after I install a GOG game on an external drive, it will run. Then, on the next launch, it says "Game not available." The game is still in the place I originally installed it and the external drive is on and connected. How to fix?
Thanks!

1: iirc, 2.91 is avalible, and for the second, make sure to mount the drive prior to starting heroic
I have that happen too, and making sure its mounted fixes it
(aka, open the drive in your file manager)

are you using the .deb, or flatpak version of the launching?
They're most likely using the Flatpak version & mounting their drive somewhere non-standard (Heroic by default only has access to
/home/$USER/Games/Heroic
, /run/media/
and /mnt
)
@just some dude Assuming this is correct, either mount your drive at a standard location instead, or use FlatSeal to give Heroic access to your mount pointlike-gold•2y ago
yeah, I had to do that when I was using the flatpak version aswell
(forgor to turn off reply ping, sorry lol)

since Heroic sees, installs, and runs the game off the drive after first install, Heroic has access to it.
If you select a directory Heroic can't access, it'll get one-time access (which is revoked once you quit the application)

aha! that's gotta be it then. thanks! is there a way to permanently allow access from within Heroic settings?
Heroic can't manage Heroic's permissions (what would be the point of them then?), you'll have to use FlatSeal (https://flathub.org/apps/com.github.tchx84.Flatseal) for that
To be specific: Open up Flatseal, select Heroic, scroll down to "Filesystem" and add a new path to "Other files"

Thank you! Unfortunately, I'm still not getting it... if my USB drive is named "Jerry," and my home directory is named "Shakespeare," is the path /media/shakespeare/jerry ?
when i type that in, the line in Flatseal gets a little blue triangle with an exclamation point in it. Flatseal isn't interested in telling me what that means, but it certainly can't be good! Also, Heroic still says "Game not available."
i then uninstalled and reinstalled Heroic from Software Manager, and am now on 2.9.1
...and that might have done it. I told Heroic to "import" the "not available" game from the location where I knew it was available
then i quit Heroic and launched again, and the game is still available.
my next problem is that Heroic now says "Loading" on startup with a rotating arrow icon for a loooooooong time.
I have a lot of games on GOG. Is Heroic pinging GOG's servers for each one of those games for something on startup?
(only like 10 are actually installed)

That means it was added by you the user
Asking someone what a folder is named on an external drive is not going to be productive. You can just browse for your drive path
