Aligning a selection
Is there a function to align a selection to a an axis in this program or is that not possible?

That rather depends what you mean by "align" (and whether you are selecting just brush strokes or also other things)
For brush strokes, it's tricky as there's no obvious way for the app to determine what orientation is intended. We assume that the original orientation is "correct" which may or may not be what you want.

But @aurumdrop - it would be interesting to hear in more detail what functionality you're looking for.
