force unleashed videos not working (binkw32.dll)

As suggested I downloaded wintricks and put it at the location recommended first i tried it in its downloaded form (winetricks-20230212.tar.gz) and after getting the same error i renamed it (winetricks.tar.gz) after same error i extracted it ... renamed it, fiddled a bunch

but its still not working i wish it gave proper errors instead of a machinecode level flagname!!!!!

i didnt ...... but it is its in /tools/winetricks/src/winetricks since thats the original folder structure

winetricks script is expected to be in tools directly not in any sub directories

so all those folders and files need to move up a directory? winetricks will still not be directly in tools and if u move it out of src then it will lose target to /files/verbs/dlls.txt for example and all other needed files?

heroic doesnt run export WINEPREFIX=/....../this game/ before opening the script? do i need to manually do that in a seperate shell

i dont see an option for selecting a prefix or for downloading the needed dll's or for applying them to a prefix? (i only remember ever using a CLI interface before for winetricks)

Select the default prefix > Install DLL the Select the default prefix is always the first step

so the videos are not working but sound, menu, controls, etc is just fine i looked the game up on protondb and it says: install d3dx9-43.dll, binkw32.dll and DirectX 9 and set DLL overrides i used winetricks to apply binkw32.dll (since its a video codec) and the videos are still not playing thinking it didnt get applied i searched for it and found a copy in .../drive_c/windows/syswow64/ (32bit dll in 64bit folder, naughty naughty) AND .../drive_c/GOG Games/Force Unleashed/ (obviously one added by heroic and one added by winetricks) the dll is registered and showing up in winecfg but videos are still not playing pouty face

didnt notice, but the menu is rendering guess i should start a game and check in game graphics its rendering just fine
