Skipping on high X/Y positions

Ive recently built the vcore 3.1 and have been slowly testing it and doing some turning and few longer prints. Had about 130 print hours and all of a sudden the printer starts skipping (or something similar) when moving diagonally towards the 400 on the x axis. Ive attached a video showing the issue. This the printer after homing and then g1 from 200 200 to 370 370 and back. Skipping starts in the 350 region. First time skipping occurs, 2nd time it's "re-alligned" or whatever you want to call it so it moves fine. All moves in x and y to maximum values seems to go just fine, it's only when I move diagonally towards 400 on x. Either when increasing or decreasing y. Any idea what might cause this?

Make sure to screw down your motors and add loctite to the screws so it doesn't move with vibration. Very important step.

Not the motors but the Pully and its 2 bolts. If you skip it could be that or the belt rubbing wrong on the idlers and at that position just goes up too much or down and skips.

2 of these needs to be firm so they don't slip, and one has to be on the flat side.

Ive actually had that problem before but that caused only smaller shifts occationally regardless of where the position of the toolhead is. Both of these set screws are secure on both motors 😊 Now I only have an issue when the toolhead makes a diagonal movement while the position of the toolhead is higher than x=350... I dont understand how that can be... 😅

Depending on the speed and acceleration the motors could slip And while you may think it is secure I suggest putting a camera there and doing the movement. Either that or the belt skiped.

I found that one of the belts were very worn on one of the edges. I think the pully was slightly off the correct height so the belt got more wear than it should. I have now changed out both the belts, but something happened to the raspberry pi so it doesnt boot. I have to get that sorted again before i get to test if the belt was the issue. Seems logical that it would be though given that the skipping only happened on diagonal moves when its only one motor working so its a lot of strain on that belt alone. @visualtech48 thanks for all your input <:ratrig_heart:1064311078290456727>

No worries, if you run into some other issues and I perhaps can help let me know. Good luck on your printer!

Got my Pi alive again, and it looks like it was the belts! Now it doesnt jump anymore the way it used to!
