Issuing TLS certificate, seems to not be happening. Waited almost 24 hours.
I set the DNS records almost 25 hours ago, and they are stuck here. I know that the "waiting for DNS" can take up to 72 hours, but on the www record it took only a few minutes.
The www record have been stuck on "issuing TLS certificate" for almost 24 hours π« I don't think this should be normal ? π€
I reset the DNS record yesterday, becuase my former successful SSL connection was terminated months ago, and both; www and naked url, was stuck on "issuing TLS certificate" for several weeks, for a reason I do not know - it used to work. Sadly, I am not seeing any progress after resetting the DNS configuration, now I am still stuck with a www record that has no certificate, and a naked url that doesn't even pick up the DNS (but I did not wait 72 hour yet).
I found multiple other people posting similar issue when I searched on discord - doesn't seem to be any user actionable solution to this problem, as far as I can see. I'd like things like domain setup to just work... it's production critial stuff, and though I am not paying a ton of money, I am still paying for a service to work. π

Seems to be stuck, @brody192 would you mind escalating this to the team?
it would be very helpful if i could check the dns on the domain myself before escalating to the team, would you please provide the domains?
its blocked because of #πο½readme rule 5
Alright, fair enough. But I was trying to keep my personal information out of the public. hence why i deducted the screenshot. I assume you got the domains, so I will remove them from my msg above
im not even seeing any nameservers on the provided domains
Alright, when i VPN to new zealand and brazil I also hit nothing, but from EU locations I see the http unsecure connection.
Should I just wait anouther 2 days? It's been more than 24 hours since i set it up, I have never experienced it takng this long.
what nameservers are you using? cloudflare?
I have directly setup CNAME record on my domain provider, namecheap, no middle man
namecheaps nameservers then
I'm not sure what you are asking, this is how I set it up on namecheap DNS setting;
This is what I did Β½ year ago as well, and that worked. until the certificate expired, and was never renewed.
looks good to me
but if i cant see the cname values on your domain, then its likely neither can railway, so yes this does mean more waiting
this is what it looks like for the naked domain, because it's still awaiting. So i can see the instrucitons.
i can not detect the record either
the www domain has been accepted, so I can no longer see the instructions. But its stuck at waiting for TLS
i can not detect the record on the www domain either
hmm. Okay, I will escalate this to namecheap support, they must be able to tell if something is wrong on their side. Thank you for staying with me on this π
I will get back when I know more
sounds good!
Try to use cloudflare nameservers then, they're a lot better
while that is true, i just added a railway cname to a namecheap domain an got a green checkmark within minutes
So I have tried to change the root domain record form CNAME to ALIAS, and will wait 60 minutes and check back.
railway requires you to use cnames
this tool is fine, please let me know when you get global check marks for the cname type on your domain
Thanks, I will keep this tool in mind. I am only able to ping my domain from cellular internet, no VPN connection finds it, just like your map shows. I wonder why I am able to ping it from cell.... Anyway, would you suggest that I transfer my domain to cloudflare like @thallescomh suggests?
Also, you don't need to transfer your domain, only change your nameservers.
https://developers.cloudflare.com/dns/zone-setups/full-setup/setup/
And you can go back to namecheap if you want to
Change your nameservers (Full setup) Β· Cloudflare DNS docs
If you want to use Cloudflare as your primary DNS provider and manage your DNS records on Cloudflare, your domain should be using a full setup.
Thanks, this worked like a charm !
keep in mind that the dns propagation website will not light up green since by default your railway app is now sitting behind a cloudflare proxy and by design that service won't be able to check for the correct dns values
