EXTREMELY fussy black tie question RE: bow tie shapes
I've finally taken the plunge and purchased some opera pumps for my tuxedo. It seems that the only non-garish options for bows on them are grosgrain 'butterfly' (although I went for flat bows). Note: I'm in the (slow!) process of putting together a completely-by-the-numbers black tie, and an informal/warm weather variant (eventually getting the ivory DJ, but I can't swing it yet)
