Whatever happened to epaulets?
10-12 years ago, when my clothing tended to be mostly from Ross Dress-For-Less, I ended up getting a lot of shirts with epaulets. I actually really like how they look, but now it seems pretty hard to find anything with them that's not either "tactical" or some sort of boating uniform, and a lot of those seem pretty jank. Have they just fallen completely out of style (if they were in style to begin with)? Are there any good shirt sellers that have nice looking shirts with epaulets? Is this a "go find a tailor" situation if I decide I want some?

Can you share a pic of what you're talking about?
I believe they are those buttoned straps ontop of shoulders, such as some leather biker jackets have. I remember getting at least one shirt from HM in like 2010 or 11 which had them, I think it was a passing trend.
The shoulder strap here. Sadly this shirt doesn't fit me anymore.
I remember those times. I indeed don't think a lot of brands make shirts with epaulets these days. You could look into surplus shirts like these: https://universal-surplus.com/collections/surplus-shirts/products/brown-british-military-shirt?variant=44617110389023, https://universal-surplus.com/collections/surplus-shirts/products/french-overdyed-military-shirt?variant=44617113993503
