Custom Domain on Bluehost
I am trying to connect my custom domain from Bluehost to Railway. Bluehost customer support says, there CNAME DNS record does not accept @ but just www. Since the domain name was added, Railway has not been able to detect the record.

im assuming you have added the CNAME record yes?
and if you are just calling the normal base domain
you don't have to add an @
most of the times this will be the standard route it resolves to anyways
but if you say bluehost doesn't allow any @ then i would look to move your domain name into a different registrar as that means you cant make subdomains
also add it without www., on Vercel it won't recognize the www. version unless you select it manually
so just copy the cname, dont fill in @ and that should be all
Okay, please. You can do that for now.
it can take upto 48 hours to propagate worldwide however
You have to do that, it's just an advice
I use NameCheap for my domain registry and im pretty content with them
if you move it over to there i can help u set it up all the way through
The propagation doesn't take up to 5minutes on Namecheap and I have been using @ with Namecheap.
i thought you were using BlueHost?
yes usually its fast but it CAN take that long
for me usually 30 min max
For this project, the Domain was purchased on Bluehost.
I see, if you're familiar with NameCheap and you're limited with @ in BlueHost
I would just migrate the domain
Okay. I will consider migrating the domain.
yes if that's done and you need my help just @ me
Okay. Thank you
An easier way is to just use cloudflare for the dns server. It’s free and you don’t need to move providers.
what Luna said
Thank you @ImLunaHey .
Does Railway provide "A" DNS Record?
Pretty sure they only use cname.
@Angelo the lack of A type dns support, this is a big one
Oh this is one that keeps coming up.
Perfect, thanks again.
