Cyberpunk 2077 (GOG) fail to fully start
Since 2.0 update I no longer can fully start CP77. After uninstalling, reinstalling, and trying multiple versions of proton CP77 will start. The game freezes before it can make it to the title screen. I appreciate the assistance.

use wine instead of proton, then send a new log if you still can't launch it

Switched to wine latest. This time it crashed instead of froze.

Same issue here on a desktop with similar hardware (AMD cpu and gpu), tried several versions of Proton and Wine and the game consistently freezes before reaching the title screen.
The wine error window seems to be about RED's error reporter and not the game itself so i'm not sure what relevant information i can provide.
I am running on Garuda linux (arch derived), my GPU is an AMD RX 6900 XT. Driver version is mesa 23.1.8.

When checking the log, it looks like when the game freezes it just spams this vkd3d log, there's like ~3000 lines of the same message :
8841.794:01d4:02ac:err:vkd3d-proton:vkd3d_waiting_event_signal: Failed to signal event, hr #80004005.
Seems to be the exact same as in OP log posted above.rising-crimson•2y ago
That shows up in logs where the game works too so it's something that is apparently harmless
You don't get as many of them but they do show up

After looking around a bit, it seems that the new Phantom Liberty update depends on GOG Galaxy to run...
And indeed, installing Galaxy in the same wine prefix did solve the issue.
Too bad for a suposedly DRM-free version, tho.

it doesn't need to be the same prefix
just galaxy running in the background

Does Galaxy by now run inside Wine and all its forks? I went with the Python3 workaround from the other thread on my desktop PC which works fine but sounds terrible for the average user.

the python workaround is comet right?

Exactly.

Not sure what exactly Galaxy requires to run on Wine.
I had to run it through heroic with wine GE latest, my "standard" system wine 8.X wasn't enough.
Not sure if the difference is wine GE itself or other libs that heroic would install automatically in the prefix ?

I can report fresh experiences from my MacOS after Sonoma (14.0) Update and using Apples promising Game Porting Toolkit with wine 7.7
I could start the Game twice and play. It run like a charm on the M1 iMac and I was quite happy that it worked. So I bought Phantom Liberty DLC and updated the game. But after it crashes while starting already after the CodeRed-Banner i.e. before the Intro.
Maybe that isn't realted to the DLC as I installed it yesterday vanilla and it also stopped working after a first succesfull boot into menus and closing game. It also crushed before the intro. I uninstalled and tried it again today.
Maybe s.o, the attached logs helps analyzing the problem.
SOLUTION!
Found that that's actually a 2.0 and/or Phantom Liberty DLC related problem.
The solution is documented in the gog forums https://www.gog.com/forum/cyberpunk_2077/a_fix_for_the_crashing/post27
That worked for me and now I can play again 😍

Having a good time since my post above today I can no longer start the game at all. I suspect the today's MacOS Sonoma update to have broken it - but can't say as I hadn't the chance to play the whole week. So no idea yet how to get it going again. Damn!
