Layering an overshirt, general advice for looser fits
Hey guys, so I came across this reddit post that was great for inspo, so im trying to sneak in a few pieces in my wardrobe to progressively learn "how to dress" like this
https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/comments/gjrd22/how_to_breathe_an_album/
I got an overshirt, specifically this one, that i got for a great price (carharrt wip arden, first picture):
and some black pants like the second picture
im trying to figure out what to layer it with, anyone got suggestions?
thought about a hoodie maybe

about to start a canadian winter so any pieces that would keep me warm are also very much welcome
any and all recommendations for stuff that would go with any of the pieces i linked or advice on tucks and similar are most welcome.
hoodie, crew neck sweatshirts, puffer vests
just be wary that fleece doesn't protect you as well if it gets too windy so err on wearing heavier layers if that's gonna be your outer layer
cargos are also a great way to create an overall loose fit
i knew about cargo sorts but somehow completely forgot about cargo pants. That's a good recommendation! All I have now are a pair of jeans, chinos and the ones I linked but ill definitely eye a few pants for my next purchase
yeah for sure, whenever it gets colder than 0 its time to bring out the technical clothing
but i think a wool underlayer + hoodie + that shirt should be okay for days where ill only be commuting and theres not too much snow around
speaking of hoodies, got any favorite ones? ive been looking at the champion ones and saw house of blanks but think its too much for a hoodie, although their natural color would probably go great with the overshirt i linked
here's where i'm not too sure: when wearing an overshirt, would i want a tighter or looser hoodie?
underneath
depends on if you sized up the overshirt or not
I did not, although they tend to run big afaik
I'm 5' 6 and asked for a small which should sit like 3 inches below my waist
gotcha
i'm about the same height as you and have a similar overshirt from them in small, so a loose hoodie should be fine
honestly I think the carhartt (not wip) rain defender hoodies are pretty nice but they're not on sale yet
would wait a bit since they tend to go on sale a lot and $40 is a good price
it definitely is, a lot more reasonable than 130+ for house of blanks for example
the issue is i like their colors better
i was eyeing the "natural" one for the above setup
there's also a few cool champion colors like "sandrock" which i think is current season and should go on sale too
have yet to check the carharrt ones you recommended
if you can see yourself getting a lot of use out of it the more expensive option might be better (unless it's severely out of price range)
since sometimes getting an alternative you're not 100% sure on ends up making you not want to wear it
ultimately up to you though!
good perspective, maybe I'll see which brand pops up with a sale first and go from there
paying close to 100 bucks for a hoodie is still a bit iffy to me ahahaha
but if ill be wearing it for a while, might as well. I'm gonna read the reviews see if they hold up for a few years
thanks man!
