cold weather shirts that aren't flannel?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but any suggestions on shirts to buy for the fall and winter that aren't flannel? I feel like that's all I have. Materials/brands/ etc suggestions are welcome. This is 100% just for personal life, not work. Going out to dinners and such. Looking for casual and comfortable shirts. I'm mostly looking to do custom on Proper Cloth because they make shirts that actually fit me but open to any inspiration please!

Heavy Oxford fabrics might be something?

Moleskin, denim, thicker twill weaves, chamois, wool blends
Or just wear a jacket!
Corduroy is a fav of mine, especially for overshirts. There’s also some wool fabrics I’ve seen in shirting, but nothing rtw recently
I second heavy weight oxfords. Look good and pretty good at keeping warm
Definitely heavier oxfords, corduroy, brushed cotton is nice too. J.Crew has their brushed cotton shirts out now.
thanks for the ideas guys. I just figured out I can buy OTR shirts at Spier in size 16 and have the sleeves tailored and then just tuck them in, which is kind of life changing as I thought I had to buy custom shirts if I needed a button shirt that actually fits
I got some cord shirts and will try some denim ones soon and keep looking for some of the other ones you mentioned
I dont own any button down shirts (I WFH) and the Spier shirts I got are all button down collars. Are you supposed to keep this buttoned the whole time or... ? Some rules around using the buttons?
I've seen people keep the collar unbuttoned but I prefer to button it down. Like most shirts of this nature: button the top buttons with a tie; without a tie leave one or two (or potentially three) top buttons open.
does this "rust" color seem easy to pull off. Thinking about grabbing this

Absolutely, though I wouldn't wear that with any but the most casual of sport coats; more casual jackets would be fine
