Hey I enjoyed this article 🤝
Some of these rules feel overly perscriptive like the stretch rule. I get the overall idea behind it but it is overly broad
yep, as always use your best judgment
Probably overly literal here but some items just need stretch
big oof
What's the point to trying to set a rule for what camo people can wear, what break their pants need, or when they have to tuck their shirt in. For formal settings, fine, there are some standard rules. But otherwise what's the problem with just allowing people to dress how they want without telling them they're doing it wrong.
Rules can be basically thought of as suggestions of how to wear stuff. A lot of them can be thought of as training wheels
"Never wear henleys" and "Wearing a shirt? Tuck it in" are not much of suggestions, and I don't think help people to dress better.
When I first joined r/mfa last year I read through every guide/inspo there, you always need a starting point
IMO they tried to make that list too big and (partially) failed
While other suggestions are fine
Based
Cringe
A simple henley is fine. I guess there's just so many bad ones out there, remnants of the like early 2010s
the good:
Try dressing like…Oliver Twist?!
the bad:
One head accessory at a time is ideal, two is the absolute most.
the wtf:
Never wear shorts to the movies or on a plane.
about the shorts -> you can get some nasty things if those seats are not clean
Never cheap out on a watch says watch seller
Just get a Casio and fuhgeddaboutit
I mean I get that you shouldn't buy the cheapest rolex possible but cheap watches can be cool
i think that danger is overstated, and if i am wrong i prefer not to know.
also i interpreted the watch one in the context of vintage watches, like get one that'd been properly serviced or from a more expensive place than a random of the same bt cheaper on ebay that will cost you later or that's a frankenwatch

bourgeois doodoo, I'm not even wearing one to my own wedding, let alone anywhere else
Article is hit or miss. But stating quirky opinions like its a hard rule is kinda miss for me
its not somewhere I ever look for advice or info, and im cherry picking too
but still
stinky article
Truly hit or miss. Half of it's fine but I always chuckle when this kind of advice portrays the practical stuff I need for outdoor stuff as for backpackers only (I'm not that fit these days lol) much less "rugged frontiersmen". And there's a lot camos out there man. I think wear Swiss or Belgian army camo and people will assume it's a fashion thing. Woodland camo could be a terrorist, or a hippie. The recommended Realtree is very popular with hunters here, I think it has very little merit for any use. Lol
Oh oops guess I was kind of necroposting
Well, people who don't get outdoor stuff having wack takes bugs me a lot lol
Already leaning hard into this one:
“No pants above the ankles” so what cropped is out now
Not if you still believe.
Never wear flip-flops outside of the beach or pool.THANK YOU
I wear chappals/flip flops everywhere like a true Indian 😁
