Issues setting the root domain through google domains
Hello, this is my first time hosting to a custom domain so I may be missing something basic. I set the 'www' cname fine and I can access my site through 'www.mysite.com' but when I try to add the root following the railway instructions so I can access my site by typing 'mysite.com' things don't go right. Google first just says 'Leave this empty if you want the root domain'. And then when I leave it empty Google says, 'can't add cname records for the root domain". Any help would be appreciated.

google domains does not support root level cnames, you would have to use cloudflare's nameservers, they have a guide for that here
https://developers.cloudflare.com/dns/zone-setups/full-setup/setup/
note, this does not involve any domain transfers...

Thank you, I'll go do that.
I went and set it up through cloudflare, changed the name servers, got an email from cloudflare saying my site is active. Site is available fine on www. But still not the root. Railway says 'waiting for DNS update." Would that take longer to propagate? Or since www is up the other should be as well.
show me your custom domains in railway
show me the dns settings in cloudlfare
