Ok I
'll tell you how I made 100000 degree water
U
urgent-maroon
•
10/21/23, 12:42 AM
So basically I took ice
U
urgent-maroon
•
10/21/23, 12:42 AM
And dropped reallly hot molted metal on it
U
urgent-maroon
•
10/21/23, 12:42 AM
The first frame after the metal touches the ice
, 2 things happen
:
U

The temperature is updated to like 100000 degrees

A state change
U
urgent-maroon
•
10/21/23, 12:43 AM
Now
, by what I can tell
, only 1 state change can occur per frame
, so the state change was from solid to liquid
, or from ice to water
.

i was going frame by frame so I just took a screenshot of the water during that frame

10/21/23, 1:52 AM
when water is below its freezing point but doesn
’t freeze due to lack of nucleation sites
U
unique-blue
•
10/21/23, 1:52 AM
but if it
’s disturbed enough or if a nucleation site is introduced
, it will start to freeze

U

•
10/21/23, 1:53 AM
there are some differences due to the real world being made of atoms and not programmed pixels
, but the behavior is still surprisingly similar
U
unique-blue
•
10/21/23, 1:54 AM
like how in sb it happens because of state checks not being done
, but irl it happens because of lack of nucleation sites
U
unique-blue
•
10/21/23, 1:54 AM
but the end result is still similar
; both can be said to change state when disturbed by another object

specific-silver
•
10/21/23, 1:58 AM
wait how did yall do this
U
unique-blue
•
10/21/23, 1:59 AM
step 1
. put ice down
step 2
. use the incinierate tool on it for 1 tick
step 3
. the state change code will only be run once in that tick
, so it will change from ice to water
, but
not
subsequently change from water to steam
U
unique-blue
•
10/21/23, 2:00 AM
the end result is liquid water at 9
,995
°C

if pixels r the same temperature they dont transfer heat and so no state change check happens
