New phone with same photos reporting 0 assets in total, backup and remainder

I was successfully using Immich with my old phone and had all my camera photos backed up with Immich, and I recently got a new phone (Pixel 8 Pro) and in the migration process all camera photos were copied to the new phone. After installing Immich in the new phone, it took a while to "verify" that all photos were already backed up, but when the process finished (the 8000+ camera photos have the cloud with the tick) the statistics reported in the backup screen of the app is 0 assets in the three categories (total/backup/remainder). In the web UI administration panel the reported number of backed up assets is correct, so I'm pretty sure it's a cosmetic bug in the Android app but I wanted to check if someone else had the same issue. Thank you!

Can you help taking a screenshot of the backup page?

No, problem, since I got the new phone I took 20 pictures (that weren't uploaded by my old phone), and those have actually been taken into account by the assets counter

On this new phone, does it have all the files from the old phone?

Yes, all files were copied over to the new phone (camera folder) before installing Immich

Can you go into the album selection for backup page, then on the camera album, click on the photo icon on the right hand side and verify that there are old files in that album?

When you first installed the app on the new phone, does the count show the correct number?

The total assets showed the correct number, and remainder assets showed the same number (8000+ in both) while backup assets showed 0 Then when I enabled the backup, the total assets number and remainder assets number started to go down 1 by 1 slowly (while the app was verifying the photos were backed up) But the backup assets number never increased So at the end of the process everything was 0 assets

Ah I understand the situation now. The phone put the files that were uploaded to the duplicated blacklist since they are already on the server, under your old phone device ID. So those files aren't accounted for anymore when performing the update on the phone You can check it by go into the Settings Page, local storage, you will see the Duplicated Assets with the number of files that are deemed existed on the server We have plan to refactore this part in the future to use the hash information of the assets to calculate the differences between the device and on the server, so that it doesn't depends on the deviceId anymore, which helps with the confusion

Ohhh okay I see thanks for the explanation. Is there anything I should do on my end to mitigate it? I know I can nuke my immich account and recreate it and reupload anything but maybe there is a more elegant solution?

No, everything here is working as intended so you don't have to do anything? Another way is to change the old device ID to your new one that needs tinker with the database

Is there a guide to change the device ID in the database? Also if I don't do anything is it expected that a future update will fix it? Thanks!

Correct, there is not a guide to do that
