is there any time i should be using proton over wine on heroic for non steam games?
Hello, even after having a steam deck for over a year being my first Linux OS platform I'm still learning.
I was told before that i should only be using wine for non steam games such as things on heroic, or that it's the best one to use objectively for some reason. Can anyone elaborate on this if it's true and maybe give me a definitive answer. They all get added to steam a non steam games if that makes a difference at all.
Thank you in advance

that doesn't mean you can't use proton-ge outside steam, some games actually work better, like Borderlands 3 cannot save files with Wine-GE and proton-GE fixes that
so if something works with proton just... use it

I take the approach of use wine-ge unless there is a problem that proton fixes. Like borderland 3's saves.. ive only had to do that twice. Ever
