Need a bag for grad school. Any suggestions?
I've been using a backpack but feel kinda like a kid with it. I used a tote bag throughout my master's but it gets kinda uncomfortable when I put too much weight in it.

Backpacks can't be beat for practicality which is priority for a bag imo
I use the Stubble & Co roll top. It's waterproof, spacious and has a dedicated laptop pocket round the back, keeping the weight close to your body.
i've been riding with a leather messenger bag from amazon, i wanted to go for a bit more of a vintage, mature look and i felt it really fits it
(thank you for the reminder that i need to grease it)
I would vote backpack still, most of my colleagues used one and I used one. I still use one in my job, it's the most comfortable and functional way to carry a laptop, notebooks, books.
Either way, what's your budget and needs?
this is my all time favorite bag and still looks somewhat classy

beautiful work of art lol
Budget would be ~100 but I'm willing to go higher (maybe up to $200) if I really like the piece.
My every day carries are my macbook pro (although might switch to an air to lose some weight), my ipad, and my water bottle. Sometimes a small book or two.
I'll be wearing an 18 East lamar coat pretty much every day once the temperature drops to around 0, so I feel like a backpack might look a bit goofy with such a big coat
Maybe I should just go back to the tote bag...
Messenger bag will do
I would vote Jansport lol
Go with a classic
Or a Hershel

I have a bag very similar to this
and I love it, have had it for years
mine isn't matte like that one. it has sheen to it and is a darker brown but the same style
I don't think backpacks are very practical given the strain on one's back.
