What kind of shoes are suitable for winters?
Where I live, the highest temperature is -3°C and the lowest is about -15°C. It snows a lot. What kind of shoes do you think are suitable? What should I choose based on?
Mountaineering shoes, winter boots like sorel? blundstone? dimme?

Lots of options would work out. Primarily boots with some nice wool socks. Ultimately depends on what your style/aesthetic is
Blundstones would be a good middle of the road option. Something like Danner Mountain Lights would be sweet... Idk that you need to go as far as mountaineering boots unless you're spending a bunch of time outside at that temp. Walking to/from a building shouldn't be too too bad in those temps
I see.
Then I guess climbing shoes are overkill.
I'll also consider Danner's Mountain Lite.
The Blundstone's have side gores, so I'm worried about snow getting in them.
I will be wearing thick wool slacks in the winter, so I think they would go well with rugged boots like the denner mountain lights, what do you think?
Also, which do you think is better, socks for climbing or wool socks for boots? Also, what are your criteria for choosing?
I want functional shoes that are warm and won't slip and get wet, what should I choose based on??
Danner makes taller boots than the mountain light, and I believe they have insulated options, so I would look at their full line, especially if you’re dealing with deep snow.
Mountaineering boots or ice climbing boots will be overkill, as they’re stiffer and designed to hold crampons, etc.
Where are you located geographically? If you’re outside the US, I would also look at European outdoors brands like La Sportiva.
I see. I will consider Danner's other shoes.
What is insulated options?
Is it something like 3M's Thinsulate?
I live in the north of Japan.
In Japan, boots made overseas are generally considered better than boots made in Japan.
Some nice wheat timbies is all u need
I think most of their insulation is PrimaLoft.
I've never had much of an issue.
I'm not sure what's available overseas but darn tough is a well respected brand. Smart wool too
I personally do not like wheat timbies. Sorry.
I did not know PrimaLoft at all. Thank you very much.
Smart wool looks good. Thank you.
darn tough is still good stuff, isn't it? Outdoor socks are still warm, aren't they?
Definitely. And if I remember correctly, they have a lifetime warranty
Thats sounds nice. I try it.
I prefer Darn Tough over Smartwool, the fit’s kinda weirder, but the durability has been way better in my experience. Compared to my Smartwool pairs, my DT pairs have pilled way less
I see. Durability is important. Thanks.
