Elder Scrolls Online ( Epic version)
Hi all , I was having an issue where I could not start the launcher , this is now fixed thanks to the group. However the next problem seems to be the following message when trying to start the installation process.
I am presented the the following error message :-
"The selected installation path is not Writeable! Please update the permissions of the selected path"
I am sure this is simple , but not sure how to do this in wine?

the message appears only if you didn't give proper permissions to the location you are trying to access
so, use flatseal to add proper permissions in other paths section

Assign propper permissions to whom? not sure I understand the account that heroic is running under (mine) has access to the folder and can do what I need to, is there a context I am missing?

but you installed the heroic as flatpak right?
which is running in the container with limited access

ah I see, the solution is simple then
you need to add a new drive in winecfg
so that the root of it is in the location that's writeable by you
by default it's only Z:\ which mounts to /

ok , so i cant see way of chaging the install patch in the launcher , I will add a drive though see if it makes a difference as you say im sure this has to be simple.
i will let you know thanks for taking time toi help

the ESO launcher should give you a way to select the path

yeah it deosnt seem to have an option , i will see if it has launch options or soemthing
right so no further but i have tired the following 1, move z drive mount poiint to game folder, crashes , 2 add a new drive to the same fodler crachses. 3. add a new drive to a different folder, runs but I cant change the install path in the launcher .. i will keep looking to help others if they come across the thread .. not sure what to try next i saw something about an environemnt variable to map an s drive to the game folder , this makes no difference
it does have launch options BTW but crashes when i use them lol I am determined to get this going 😄
