Is the advice to get brown donegal before blue donegal always true?
I'm tempted to pickup a blue donegal sportjacket as I feel it goes better with what I already have and I like that color the most. Does that make sense? I already have camel relaxed chinos which should go with it, right? Thank you!

thinking of trying my luck with spier but in their slim fit
idk some menswear dork will probably tell me I'm wrong but the rule that trumps every other rule is buy what you like
but yes, if you walk down the street in a blue donegal jacket, derek guy himself will emerge from the shadows and ask to see pictures of your brown donegal jacket
I have both brown and blue/navy
I think brown give a more academic vibe
Blue is sharper
Last time i wore a brown sportcoat, dark brown brogue, and a tweed trousers, my wife said i look professor ish
People have different opinion but yea that what I associated the color with lol
thank you both!! in addition, any thoughts on this donegal in particular? should i wait and do MTM with a moon donegal (that's pricier so i woudn't be doing that rn)?

moon donegals
I like moon
for example. they have blue but not on the website
Looks like the grain is smaller
Kinda understated
But quite interesting close up
yah i wasn't sure which one i prefer but i think i like more understated?
I think you're better off buying from spier to see if you even like how the donegal fits into your style
I wouldn't recommend going mtm until you're much further along in your style journey. not a dig, it's just a steep steep investment to make while you're still figuring things out
hence why I haven't even bothered looking into mtm for myself
thank you! the MTM is a lot pricier than spier but also not as pricy as you might think (about $750 i believe made by rochester tailoring company in southwick's old block)
but yeah you're right that's like a lil over double the price
i've been thinking of donegal for awhile now as tailoring I could wear casually in more trad fits as well as any semiformal social occasions/at work
yeah I think it's a good look for where you seem to want to go
thank you!
Yea man idk why resale for sport jacket is so sad
😦 just be sure u gonna really like it before picking one up
yeah! it would be convenient to try stuff out tho if i was an easier size haha
