Coats for spring/fall

I've been eyeing barn coats, but I get the impression that work wear is passé (for non workers, at least). What's a trendy/sexy alternative? Requirements: tough enough to handle yard work, roomy enough to layer underneath, long enough to cover hips, lined for warmth but preferably not insulated. Also preference for non synthetic materials. (Am I simply describing a barn coat?!)

That seems a bit too long, but you have certainly piqued my interest. Are you able to share an example product? Or some common search terms I can use on eBay used, to find something to try out for a while?

You can wear workwear all you want, even if a few loud people don't like it. They sell it in stores and I promise both the makers, and the stores, are happy for you to buy it. We wear sport coats even when we're not riding, hunting, or shooting. We wear chore coats even when we're not doing chores. We wear field jackets even when we are not in the field. And god fucking knows we drive pickup trucks without towing or filling the bed with tools and/or lumber. Some of it is more cosplay than others, but yknow, just don't wear stuff you find to be cosplay. If you wear oil-stained Dickies overalls despite never having turned a wrench because you think the aesthetic is cool maybe you'll get some eyebrows raised but to my eye there is nothing about a nice new barn coat that screams "phoney!" so if you like it, wear it in good health.

Barn coats are cool Aren't some of the classic ones preppy like the ll bean or j crew ones? Doesn't sound like they'd always give off a pure workwear vibe and either way there's nothing wrong with wearing straight up workwear There's also chore coats which I'd think would be a category worth exploring for your purposes
