this looks wrong
why are you running the icon
grumpy-cyan•2y ago
also the wine prefix is totally wrong, make sure the path is
/home/deck/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/SplinterCell
in the game's settings in heroicsensitive-blue•2y ago
Whoa you aren’t kidding about the prefix. It’s an entire Heroic log!
foreign-sapphire•2y ago
id be curious how something like that happens O_O
other-emeraldOP•2y ago
I’ll uninstall and re-install and will follow the advice here. Report back soon.
foreign-sapphire•2y ago
no need.. just fix these things
point the prefix directory at the appropriate folder, similarly fix what the target exe points at
other-emeraldOP•2y ago
If only heroic could just do this automatically with games so that they just work. Maybe the next update can do this.
foreign-sapphire•2y ago
i mean these are settings that are automatic, so you had to have changed them yourself
heroic defaults these two settings to correct values..
grumpy-cyan•2y ago
and if you didn't change any of that then it's the weirdest bug ever

Issue persists. I get a settings menu in another language, looks like German.
other-emeraldOP•2y ago
This is how the game folder looks like.

Don't change the wine prefix Heroic selects. You've again changed it, and it's again wrong
other-emeraldOP•2y ago
How do I get to this prefix because the files shown here in the photo above are not clear on which to choose?
Also, the game is in my SD card
foreign-sapphire•2y ago
The prefix is generated by heroic, and by default, go in ~/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/<game name>
Don't change whatever Heroic automatically sets. That is the value you want
other-emeraldOP•2y ago
So, I’ve installed the game, and changed nothing. What you see from the recent log is what heroic choose because I have installed the game and did nothing to its settings.
Installed> launched games, game lunches to settings mode> exit game> uploaded the recent log shown above
grumpy-cyan•2y ago
you can type a path with your keyboard if you can't find it (use the steam deck's virtual keyboard if you don't have a keyboard attached)
other-emeraldOP•2y ago
And this would work even when the game is located on my SD card?
other-emeraldOP•2y ago
Okay, so overwrite “default” with “Splinter Cell,”? That’s it? I don’t need to change the exe or anything?

grumpy-cyan•2y ago
the prefix is not your game install path, is the place where wine will create the fake "windows" drive with "windows" files for your game, it should work fine even with the game in the SD card
only change
default
with SplinterCell
or Splinter Cell
then try to run the game, and if it still fails share a new logother-emeraldOP•2y ago
I’ll try right now. But, this is the default from heroic. Do you know why this happens that I have to do this thing?
grumpy-cyan•2y ago
something is wrong, not sure what's happening, heroic should put the game name as the folder name automatically
other-emeraldOP•2y ago
Hmm. Probably a bug because I did not do anything but installed game and then launch.
Did you perhaps check the terrifically named "Use Default Wine Settings" checkbox when installing?
other-emeraldOP•2y ago
other-emeraldOP•2y ago
This is what launches after the game’s starting cut scene.

Yup that sure is German
Are you able to select things in there? Try going to the 2nd option ("Einstellungen")
other-emeraldOP•2y ago
What do you think @arieljuod ?
grumpy-cyan•2y ago
I'm not sure, I don't own that game, commandMC asked you to try the second option
other-emeraldOP•2y ago
Yeah, like I said, it’s regular game settings (adjust controls, sound, visuals, etc) Not the game itself. It doesn’t lead anywhere. I’ve tried all of the options in the photo way before I uploaded it here. I’m going to close this as unsolvable. Thank you for the help
