Would sizing up and tailor a pair of pants down help for someone who have athletic thighs?
Hello. So i'm hunting for some suits and apparently one of the problem I've encountered is that my thighs tend to be too tight for dress pants generally, despite my waist being 34. So I thought of sizing up pants and then tailor it down to make it fit my build better. Would that work? For what's work some of the best pants that fit me is Express' Athletic Slim jean or Levi's Athletic Taper/Slim Jean, both have very tapered silhouettes but with bigger seat and hip.

Yes that will work. But you don’t want your dress pants to fit like your jeans
Then how should it be fit?
For what's worth I have one of Bonobos' suit that happen to have an Athletic fit dress pants, which has more room in the seat and taper from the knee
But even then it's still kinda tight on me
This is an incredibly broad question but I’m a fan of the general advice here.

I’m also a big fan of straighter cuts for trousers so you can get the nice clean lines in trousers specifically

How Pants Should Fit
It’s much easier to get trousers to fit well than jackets. There’s also less wiggle room for interpretation. While there...
Notice the nice clean lines in the front and the back on the thumbnail pic. That’s what I like for trousers
Jeans don’t have that crease and drape differently than suiting fabrics. You can do other stuff like a baggier fit with jeans or something more vintage like flares or how good 501s can fit with a slim top block and a looser fit below the knee
This prob helpful if u wanna pair with a jacket
