Raw denim jackets

What’s your take on raw indigo jackets? There’s a good deal on one I like (Lee archives 101J repro), but thinking maybe they’re harder to style than a nice vintage one. How quickly do you think they’d fade?

I'm a fan, pretty easy to style really. If you want it to fade you just need to wear it and wash it more but you will also find plenty of Lee Storm Rider/Rider jackets on ebay that are already faded because they're old

I prefer to fade new/almostnew items myself, since the fade marks align with my body and movements, but it's a pretty subtle distinction for the average person. I usually wear them around the house for a few weeks until they lose some rigidity and drape better.

I think buying a vintage jacket is cool AND fading your own from raw is cool. Just depends on what sort of experience you’re looking for really. Denim jackets are never really “out of style” so you can’t go wrong. If you decide to fade your own, make sure to soak before wearing it so that you get some of the indigo bleed off unless you want crocking everywhere
