https://discord.com/invite/join-infoe Listening to Multiple Meetings Simultaneously To manage audio from multiple meetings, consider the following setup: Equipment: - A mixer like this one from Amazon. - Connect your job laptop's 3.5mm as input. - One external headphone as the output. - Adjust the balance to manage multiple audio streams. (I've successfully managed 3 streams at once). Speaking During Meetings: Use one microphone per job with a mute switch for basic requirements.
--- Advanced Audio Solution with Otter.ai For a sophisticated setup to record and transcribe meetings using otter.ai, follow these steps: 1. Setup: - J1 Audio out → 3.5mm Splitter - From the splitter: - 1a. One part connects to the regular audio setup in the mixer. - 1b. The other connects to a microphone/speaker splitter (specifically the microphone section). - Connect to a USB-C adapter. - Plug into a personal MacBook, which recognizes this as a "microphone" for recording. - On the MacBook, run an Ubuntu VM dedicated to recording J1 audio output. 2. Materials: - Audio Splitter - Mic Jack Splitter - 3.5mm to USB-C Adapter (Useful for Mac users seeking independent recording) 4. Configuration: - In Parallels (or your preferred VM manager): - Ubuntu1: sound input USB-C 1 - Ubuntu2: sound input USB-C 2 - Ubuntu3: sound input USB-C 3 - Launch otter.ai on each VM and record from the corresponding audio streams. This setup essentially uses the three hardware components to achieve synchronized audio recording and transcription. Alternative INCOMING AUDIO: I have maker hart mixer to give me J1 -> Left balance, J2 -> Right balance. In special situations, i have J3 set to middle left, and J4 set to middle right OUTGOING AUDIO: I have 1 mic per job with dedicated mute switch. I have practice enough for the past year of OE that i can discern between two audio streams in each ear (practicing with 3 incoming calls at once too). This is a learnable skill and is practiceable using two devices connected to two separate earbuds listening to two lectures. I do effective mix of : - Mute switching - "Sorry forgot to unmute" excuses - Preparing in advance to talk first or last if the meeting was planned in advanced.
