Duffel coat - polyamide

I see that Gloverall duffel coats usually contain some polyamide besides wool. Interestingly, vintage ones contain even a bit more (25%) than the new models (10%). I guess it’s not for cost reduction or it were the other way around. Is it for added durability? I also saw some old Loden coats containing a similar ratio of polyamide, which was surprising to me. Is it not a smart thing to always prefer 100% wool in coats?

really depends on the brand, cheap ones use synthetics to cut costs, reputable ones use them for their properties 100% wool is still good
