desktop crashes anytime I do anything

I can't even update my apps thru software center without it crashing and rebooting to game mode. I am using bazzite w/ GNOME on steam deck. I let it update once a day on the startup but all of a sudden I have 18 updates to my flatpaks and it crashes every time. It crashes trying to install arma mod, ffxiv launcher...which won't even install thru bazzite portal either. I have had problems with desktop crashing the whole time but chalked it up to inconvenient bugs...ik it's still getting major overhauls but now I cant even set up my games to run unless they just run OOB. Please help, I love bazzite but if I can't use desktop end then it's pointless to use the OS at all
