KDE desktop crashes after using gnome disk utility

earlier I was creating a live usb and noticed that my entire desktop crashes and resets after using the disk manager
after formatting a pendrive and giving it an ext4 partition, closing the program and using the search bar in the application launcher menu, after typing one or two letters it crashes every single time
my installation is overall pretty vanilla, outside of flatpaks from the bazaar I haven't installed anything, especially not with ostrees, so I wonder if its a bug in my particular install, a bug in this version or I have a setting enabled that its causing it
